Strategy and corporate development - disruptive energy business - Sydney based


The client is a boutique Australian startup in the energy sector, with a blossoming presence in NSW. With a portfolio of ASX100 relationships, this organisation is driving innovation in the energy industry, and helping create a pathway to a more sustainable Australia.

With a growing strategy and corporate development function under a high performing commercial leader, this organisation is now looking for a keen strategic mind to help drive growth, manage high value projects and influence and engage stakeholders at all levels across the organisation.


As a strategy and corporate development analyst in the commercial business, you will assist the team in identifying growth opportunities, including driving the M&A mandate, and generally developing innovative solutions and strategies across the energy value chain. You will have a keen strategic toolkit, exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and, ideally, exposure to the energy industry. Specifically, you will:

  • Identify potential growth opportunities for the business and manage the pipeline of potential partnership, acquisition and the development of new client relationships
  • Engage and advise senior leaders in the business, influencing at all levels of the organisation
  • Undertake competitor and market analysis to understand the landscape of electricity generation, distribution, and financing
  • Undertake regular strategic reviews and formulate robust business cases to underpin development
  • Support the broader strategy function of the business to ensure strategic alignment


Apart from a hands on approach and a collaborative working style, you will have

  • At least 2 years' experience in a top tier consulting firm. Please note that applicants with consulting experience will be strongly preferred
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and ability to influence
  • Strong financial modeling and analysis, and demonstrated ability to undertake long term strategic planning and business case development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
