Project Manager - Communications

This Leading Government Department is seeking a Project Manager (Conmmunication Strategy) who will work with the Business Engagement team to design, implement and deliver the project objective.

You will have marketing, media and/or event experience with a sensitivity to stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage business process projects from requirements to successful implementation
  • Develop and implement project management plans to ensure the success of the project
  • Regularly communicate with key senior stakeholders to ensure the identification and tracking of project objectives
  • Prepare and present project status reports and communicate project updates to inform decision making at the senior level
  • Manage effective teams and relationships with diverse stakeholders, both internal and external, including business, finance and ITD
  • Lead and facilitate productive discussions with all stakeholders
  • Responsible for the management of project finances including budget formation, forecasting and reporting up to 5 million dollars
  • Actively identify, manage and escalate risks, issues and dependencies to program leadership
  • Co-ordinate with business as usual teams to ensure the support model and process are well defined and that the solution is transitioned successfully

Required Experience

  • Experience with the Department of Education, preferably in a project, marketing or HR role
  • Qualifications in marketing or (school-based) education and/or a demonstrated understanding of media campaigns and education in the marketplace
  • Leading stakeholder workshop to define and understand the business requirement
  • Strong business and service orientated project experience
  • Self-motivated individual that actively takes the initiative with an ability to work autonomously
  • Experience creating high quality project and program artefacts, within emerging or existing frameworks
  • Advanced documentation skills, ability to clearly document processes, requirements, problem statements and formal PMO documents

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in managing external vendors
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project and PowerPoint skills
  • PRINCE2 Methodology certification or equivalent awareness/experience
