Our client, a Sydney based fintech start-up was recently named one of Australia's 25 best start-ups to work for according to LinkedIn. An opportunity exists for a Risk & Compliance Manager to join this highly talented and innovative organisation to help shape its technical operations.

You will be responsible for acting as a trusted Line 1 advisor for operational risk and obligations related matters across the Products business. In addition, you will build greater ownership capabilities for the risk related activities.

You will:

  • Execute control monitoring and testing programme based on business requirements
  • Provide advice and guidance on the maintenance of an effective internal control environment
  • Enable the teams to embed and implement effective risk management activities under the Operational Risk Management Framework and Compliance Risk Management Framework
  • Report control monitoring and performance data to risk management committees
  • Drive a culture of controls by building strong relationships with the business stakeholders and ensuring that Risks and obligations are identified, and adequate Control processes are in place.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • 4+ years internal audit/compliance/risk experience in Financial Services
  • Good understanding of banking regulatory environment (APRA/ASIC etc)
  • Experience in testing and implementation of controls
  • An understanding of operational risk, process and controls concepts, including risk identification, controls testing, monitoring frameworks and methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including senior stakeholder engagement experience
  • Ability to work autonomously.
