Excellent Opportunity for an Energy Analyst to join a rapidly growing business

About the company

A large energy business is working with us on an exclusive basis to recruit for an analyst to join their growing energy finance team in the settlements space. Our client is rapidly broadening their finance team and will offer the right candidate the long-term opportunity to grow in either the trading or treasury function.

About the role

Acting directly as the second in command to an experienced Finance Manager, you will be involved in processing high volume transactions, analysing contracts and advising on the impact those contracts are having on finance/legal decisions. You will focus on a range of commodities giving you the greatest exposure within the team and you will act as a mentor to junior members of staff.

Your core duties will be:

  • Calculate and create invoices for any of our client's products
  • Review and verify contracts and terms provided by front office/third parties
  • Analyse the data within them contracts and make recommendations on where the terms of the contract could be improved for the business
  • Create necessary legal documentation to support and verify trades and resolve any issues in documentation provided by third parties
  • Create journal entries for GL transactions for AP and AR
  • Verify, invoice and deliver settlement on all products with both internal and external clients
  • Manage and provide data to support payment timeframes
  • Generate and compile KYC and AML reports where necessary
  • Build the necessary relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all accounts payable and receivable are maintained

About you:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in commerce, economics and accounting
  • Experience working in an Energy/Utilities Business
  • Extensive Excel skills as

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working with a treasury management system
  • Excellent excel knowledge and skills
  • Experience working within Australian regulated markets or the energy market
  • Excellent financial modelling skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
