The job market has become more and more competitive over the last couple of years which has meant as a candidate you have to be at the top of your game. The bottom-line for all of us is we need to keep growing, learning and networking to stay competitive and marketable in this highly competitive job market.

Here are my top 4 tips for you to apply to make your 2014 job search easier:

Identifying a clear set of goals
Make sure you set yourself a number of SMART goals you want to achieve this year. The key to achieving your goals is to make a detailed plan and make sure you follow through!

Be tech savvy
Technology is becoming a major part of the recruitment process. That is why it is very important to evaluate your personal brand on social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, FaceBook, Google+ etc. The majority of employers will now check your social media pages so you need to make sure you are sending a positive and professional message.

Use your initiative
Don’t just sit there and wait for someone to contact you. Show employers how motivated and resourceful you are by approaching them. Tell them what you have to offer and be very specific for their company.

Show your personality
You need to create your own story of who you are and what you have to offer. You need to know what makes you special and be able to communicate this to others. This needs to be done in personable way that shows your professional side but also your real personality.

Good luck with your job search!
