Top Tips for 2016
We have had an extremely fast start to 2016 at Morgan McKinley and have seen an unusual amount of clients recruiting for newly created positions.
Here are my top tips to maximise your job search in 2016 and give you the best opportunity of securing that dream job.
- Maximise every opportunity - You never know when you'll land the dream job. If you're offered an interview, you should always go. A face to face meeting can tell you a lot more than just the job description. You never know, you may just surprise yourself.
- Have realistic expectations - Even if you're lucky enough to already hold your dream job, there's no such thing as the perfect work situation. You need be ambitious and put yourself out of your comfort zone but at the same time play to your strengths.
- Know your agenda and think before you speak - A major aspect of a lasting impression lies in the confidence you have in yourself and how you react to certain questions. People will immediately judge you on the quality of your response in stressful situations. That’s why it’s important to know what you want to take away from the meeting and be prepared to accomplish it. Being well prepared will automatically give you a sense of creditability among your peers.
- Your name is your brand – When looking for a new job, always be thinking – "How will this reflect on me, both today and several years down the line…?" It’s a small world so make sure your personal brand is viewed positively.
