Welcome to our first Project and Change update for 2018.
We hope you have all had a peaceful and relaxing Christmas break and are looking forward to the year ahead In this update we will look back at the Project and Change market in the last quarter in 2017 and a quick look ahead to what 2018 has in stall.
Q4 overall was a very busy one for the whole team, the number of placements made exceeded every other quarter for the year and the team reached a record number of contractors out with our clients. There was no sign of the ‘Christmas slow down’ as the team were busy filling briefs right up to the end of December.
New jobs across the team were up compared to Q4 2016, numbers were slightly down on Q3 2017, but we would put this down to some roles from that quarter rolling over in Q4 in terms of fulfilment. Candidate registrations were down from both the previous quarter and the same time last year, this is a direct result of more candidates finding themselves in longer term contracts. A shortage of supply in some of the in-demand skills sets such as Agile, reg/compliance and Change is something businesses need to be aware of going into 2018.
Across Financial Services, the announcement of the Royal Commission has seen a spike in demand for regulatory/compliance Projects Managers as the Banks look to get everything in order, add this to other regulatory projects such as APRA regs, Privacy and GDPR, and it makes for a busy time overall for all Financial Services organisations.
On the Commerce and Industry side, we have been busy partnering with organisations on various transformation initiatives, from digital enhancements, cost out initiatives (including offshoring) and major technology implementations.
All of this resulted in another busy quarter for Change division, demand was particularly high at the Change Manager and Analyst level, whilst we also saw a large request for people in the Learning and Development space.
2018 has started in similar fashion and the team are busy across all areas. We are excited to be working on our 2018 salary survey - to be released very soon. We are also working on our events diary for the year and are looking forward to bringing you our annual Projects and Change breakfast as well as some smaller lunch/evening events with some top draw speakers.
