What were the market trends for last quarter?
Since the introduction of the Machinery of Government project we initially saw a slight decline in job opportunities due to the substantial change in the arrangement of the NSW Government Departments. However, with change of this magnitude we have seen an increased flow for opportunities within the Transformation space to aid and drive the change which is happened. As expected, projects which were previously put on hold during the election have gathered momentum again.
What are the major skills in demand?
This quarter skills in demand across NSW Government Departments have remained in line with last quarter. With continued Finance Transformation Projects across multiple Departments, we have seen a demand for Finance Business Analysts who are the vital interface for this transformation. Similarly, outside of Finance, modernisation projects have caused an increased demand for Project Managers and Business Analysts to ensure demands have been met.

What are the skill gap shortages?
As the market gathered momentum we saw an increased gap for Finance Professionals who can deliver high level financial services with the capability to explain and deliver effectively to both finance and non- finance people. In the projects space, in order to support the work of Project Managers and Business Analysts, there has been a shortage of strong Project Coordinators, particularly within ICT projects. It is evident that multiple Departments require Project Coordinators who have extensive experience with NSW Government Departments.
What is the outlook for the next quarter?
In the coming quarter we expect to see lots of opportunities across our Government clients. With new the budget funding now available, the delivery of commitments has commenced. The new Government Clusters will need access to new talent to deliver on key priorities for NSW, leading to increased opportunities throughout NSW.
