Senior Accountant - Reinsurance

In this newly created role you will have responsibility for how the reinsurance accounting is completed in Australia, taking ownership for the follow responsibilities:

• Ensuring reinsurance program and documentation is compliant with regulator requirements
• Ownership of reinsurance related APRA and rating agency capital requirements
• Timely and accurate calculation and settlement of premiums
• Timely and accurate calculation of RI recoveries
• Reconciliation of related AP/AR RI accounts
• Quarterly reporting, both to parent and regulator
• Building upon and continuously improving reinsurance control framework
• Maintaining and ongoing updating of detailed procedure notes
• Reporting and monitoring of terrorism premiums and ensuring data quality
• Streamlining and improving reinsurance processes
• Liaising with home office reinsurance team, responding on RI related queries in a timely manner.
• Provide supervision, training and development of those tasked in providing support to the position
• Any other duties or projects as requested by Management
• Future plans to expand and replicate processes across Asia Pacific Zone

Requirements

• CA / CPA qualified
• Minimum 5 years of Reinsurance experience within the general insurance industry. At lest 2 years of which would be expected to be in a position holding primary responsibility for the entities, line of business or geographic regions Reinsurance programme.
• Organised with strong time management skills
• A track record of achieving process improvements
• Above average working knowledge of spreadsheets
• Strong communication skills, written & oral
